Finnish VTT (government research company) approached Etteplan with a problem – huge expensive machines that were used for printing electrical circuits (each containing more than 30 electric motors) needed predictive maintenance sensing when there is a problem with the motors in the machine. Etteplan proposed the use of LoRa as a platform for the sensing network solution. Cheap and durable, it is now integrated as part of the €5M machines.

  • Running Mbed OS version 5.8.4.
  • They used Mbed because it enables quick and easy application development which was essential for the tight schedule their customers demanded. They could get the full Mbed development environment up and running quickly.
  • The project took about 4 months with 1 hardware engineer, 1 software engineer and some assistance from a project manager.
