The Aaeon Node is a small device that allows Facilities Managers to easily control lighting from a city-wide single platform. Operational efficiency can be gained by simply plugging the node into an industry standard NEMA 7-pin socket found on most street lights. Over 4,000 Aaeon Nodes have been deployed across the city of Taipei growing to an expected deployment of 25,000 by end of 2020. The ability for Facilities Managers to remotely manage brightness in specific areas improves public safety, saves energy, running costs and improves acceptance by residents due to not being dazzled during the night. Each node contains a GPS chip which improves the commissioning process by automatically determining the location then reporting faulty lights rather than relying on maintenance teams and citizens making reports. As a backup, each node contains a light level sensor which allows the system to operate autonomously should internet connectivity be disrupted.
